Tyler's Week In Review - 3rd Edition (July 6th - 12th)

Hello! You are at the site of Tyler's Week In Review! Hopefully you meant to come here and it wasn't an accident. If you did accidentally get here...well there is no hope for you! There is no way out...trust me, I've tried..Alright, lets get this 3rd edition going!

Entertainment-

Don't be surprised if you see more Billy Mays commercials on your TV. Not even being dead can keep this god of infomercials down! A new infomercial for "Mighty Tape" is going to air July 20th. You know you are good when you're dead and you are still making money! Honestly, I think they should take all of his commercials down because I mean, hello? He's dead!

Harry Potter actor Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley, the red haired kid) had swine flu! Amazing right? Not even wizards can keep the swine flu at bay.

This is all I have for "Entertainment" this week because now even NBC is getting lazy and not putting up videos for Americas Got Talent. So if you really want to see Americas Got Talent, you can either A.) Go to NBC and look for yourself and try to find more than I did. or B.) Watch it on NBC Tuesday's and Wednesday's at 8:00 PM. (hows that for sneaking in some advertising!) I probably got the time wrong anyway so lets go to the next subject.

Politics-

Government websites in South Korea and the US where the victims of a huge cyber attack this past week. US Officials are eyeing North Korea as the origins of the attack. Can't you just imagine Kim Jong II and his friend just sitting at his computer trying to hack in to the US governments website themselves? Haha, sorry, I just looked at those pictures again. How can you NOT laugh at those?

Sports-

A lot of news in sports this week, thats why I didn't write much on the other subjects. Lets start off with baseball.

The first no-hitter of the baseball season was thrown by the Giants. They have Tim Lincecum (last years NL Cy Young winner), The Big Unit Randy Johnson, and Barry Zito. And neither of them threw the no-hitter! The pitcher was Jonathan Sanchez. And the only reason Sanchez started the game was because Randy Johnson went on the Disabled List because of a sore shoulder. 3 Weeks before he pitched his no hitter, he was getting demoted to the bullpen after going 2-8 with a 5.30 ERA. What makes this even more of a story was that his dad was in the stands watching his son pitch the entire game. I remember watching it too and I was really getting in to it. My stomach almost dropped after Edgar Gonzalez almost hit it out of the park, but gold glover Aaron Rowand made a perfect catch and robbed it to get the second out of the 9th inning. It's kind of long but you should defiantly watch this video (it's the top of the 9th inning where he gets his no hitter) at 2:13 of the video is where Rowand makes a terrific catch.

If you have a headache, get headaches easily, or just don't like getting confused, these next two stories are not for you. Colorado Rockies pitcher Alan Embree didn't even need to throw a pitch to win the game against the Washington Nationals, last Wednesday. Told you. Appaerently, the game was tied 4-4 in the 8th. Embree comes to the pitchers mound with 2 outs and runners on 1st and 2nd. He then picked off Austin Kearns at first to end the inning. Then at the bottom of the 8th, Seth Smith pinch hits for Embree (no pitches thrown) then later in the inning, Clint Barmes hit a sacrafice fly to take the lead 5-4. A new, real pitcher comes in for Smith (who pinched hit for Embree) finishes the game. Put that all together and you get a win for Alan Embree with him not throwing a single pitch.

The next story is not as confusing, but still confusing enough. Joel Hanrahan won a game...without even being there! What?! Yes. He did throw 16 pitches may 5th when the game started. But after some delays that game didn't resume until last Thursday. So Tyler, why couldn't he finish the game? Well non existent questioner, he was 1,500 miles away, after he got traded to the Pirates a week ago.

This next story isn't as confusing, as just playing weird. The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Cincinnati Reds...22-1...that is not a typo. The final score was really 22-1. Don't belive me? Here is the story. Something even more shocking, is that the Phillies scored 10 of that 22 in the first inning alone! Amazing right?

"The King" LeBron James got dunked on by a sophomore from Xavier. Unfortunatley, we will never be able to see it. During LeBron's "LeBron James Skills Academy", they were playing a pick up game and Jordan Crawford dunked on him. And if thats not bad enough for LeBron, he had Nike confiscate the only two videos of the evidence. Really LeBron? Whats the worse that will happen? It gets put on youtube, its a huge hit for like 3-4 days, you're the butt of all jokes for a little bit, then no one cares about it. But since he took all tape, this story is just going to grow and grow and grow. Today, its just a regular two handed dunk, tomorrow it will be 360-degree, windmill. And it will just get bigger and bigger. Oh well, I have a feeling it will be "leaked" on to the internet scene.

Random Story Of The Week-

Greenpeace activists were arrested after hanging a banned on Mount Rushmore. WHAT?! Looke at this picture. I couldn't believe it at first, I was thinking, "this has to be photoshopped, right?" No, it doesn't! 11 climbers scaled Mount Rushmore and unfurled the huge banner. This is stupid, yes, but how can you not respect them for this? They have some serious guts. They said they took special care to not damage the monument. The banner says "America honors leaders, not politicians : stop global warming".

  1. Have you ever noticed that when Billy Mays commercials come on, the volume on the television becomes inexplicably louder? Was it his voice, or is this some kind of plot?

Sports are so confusing. Or boring. Confusing and boring.
